FAQ

What is a good geography quiz question for beginners?
"What is the capital of Australia?" is ideal — most people confidently answer Sydney, and the correct answer, Canberra, teaches the wider lesson that a capital is often not the biggest city.
Which national flag is not rectangular?
Nepal's. It is a double-pennon shape made of two stacked triangles, the only non-rectangular national flag in the world.
What is the southernmost capital city in the world?
Wellington, New Zealand, at about 41°S, is the southernmost capital of a sovereign state. (Canberra is farther south than Wellington's latitude would suggest people think, but Wellington is farther south still.)
How many countries does the equator pass through?
Thirteen: São Tomé and Príncipe, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, the DR Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, the Maldives, Indonesia, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, and (through its waters) Kiribati.
